Kempen~Broek is a large nature reserve in the border area of Dutch and Belgian Limburg, south of Weert. This route is fit for cycling and driving by car. It is a beautiful route along quiet roads, that will take you through the surprising landscape of the Grenspark Kempen~Broek.
Hidden in the landscape are five historic water mills alsongside the Aabeek, Uffelsebeek and Itterbeek. In Stramproy and Molenbeersel, sturdy and striking windmills attract attention. You will also pass the place, that is sung in the Limburg National Anthem of the ‘Bronze Green Oak Wood’: the Castle Mill exactly on the National Border between Kessenich and Neeritter. All mills are included in the Grensmolenroute in the HERITAGE APP (Faro).

Mill Sint Jan has a history of hundreds of years. This makes it the oldest authentic windmill in Kempenbroek. References date back to the 16th century. On the mill yard is a bronze bust of the last professional miller Lei van de Winkel.

Keijersmolen
The Keijersmolen is named after the miller family Keijers. The mill is the last mill in Belgian Limburg with which the miller continued to grind with wind power.

Uffelse molen
The Uffelse mill is a undershot watermill with a wheel of 7 meters, that is placed on the corner of the mill in a partially wooden side wall. The total compound consists of a mill, farm with living area, large tithe barn, bakery, pigsty and chapel.
